On the whole, I'd prefer robins, but if migrating vultures are a harbringer of Spring, then I'll take them.

I've seen sparrows do the same thing at my uncle's farm: he has stakes set for grapevines and the little sparrows sit atop the posts with their beaks open, calling for food. Their mothers fly around and drop food into their waiting mouths. I find it a beautiful testament to providence: "look at the birds of the air..." (Matthew 6:26).
