As our sheep friends have noted, I am in the midst of a gala spring blog redecoration project. The new layout adds some complications and it will be a while before everything is sorted out and all links are back in place. I have left archived posts in the "classic" Hillside Farm format and they are now sorted by day (hence the absurdly long archive links at the bottom right of the blog). Let me know what you think!

Looks classy, John! Is that really one of your lambs? It seems too chunky and short-legged, almost like a stuffed animal. The site looks really nice, very neat and under-stated.

Thanks for checking in! Yes, that is one of our lambs. Her name is Heather, and standing next to her is her mother, Cabriola. Mom is a Harlequin sheep, a breed invented by a family just north of us in Clarke County. Dad was a little yearling ram from the spotted "proto-Harlequin" section in our own flock.

Yes, you can see from the facial markings why they're called "Harlequin." Very interesting. What is the wool like?
